Why Lose Weight?

There are 3 reasons why a person chooses to lose weight:

  • Health reasons
  • Vanity
  • A little bit of both

Health Reasons

It has been documented over and over that the human body works so much better and efficiently when it isn’t overburdened with excess weight.  There is less stress on the heart to get the blood pumping round the body, there is less stress on the joints when there is less body fat to carry around.

Our society has become lazy and we love our fast food fixes but we don’t really enjoy the work it takes to cancel out the damage of all the food we take in.

We know that the health reasons are very important and we have to keep motivated in order to achieve our goal – of a healthy lifestyle.

Vanity

It is very true to say that we are all a little vain and one of the reasons we wont to lose weight is to look good, not only for ourselves, but also to others.

We all look at the glossy magazines and the celebrities and wish we could look a little like them.  We may not want to admit this out loud but deep down inside, we want to look and feel beautiful.

I don’t think there is anything wrong with this at all. Just as long as you have a realistic idea of what real people look like.  Remember – the magazines and celebrities spend thousands on hair, make-up and air-brushing so that they appear perfect.  We all know that this is not how real people look when they get out of bed in the morning.  We all know that celebrities do not look like the magazine pictures when they get out of bed in the morning.

A Little Bit Of Both

The best reason for losing weight combines both these factors.  You can improve your health and you can improve your appearance at the same time. What could be better?
