What Does It Take To Lose 1lb in weight?

1lb in weight is the equivalent of 3,500 calories.  So in order to loe 1lb in 7 days you would need to use up at least 500 calories a day.  This can be done through a combination of reducing your daily calorie intake by 250 and doing some sort of physical activity to burn up 250 calories.

If you use this combination you will lose weight slowly but surely.

Ways To Lose Weight

Join a club in your area or online.  There are plenty of dieting clubs where you can get help and advice to lose weight in a healthy and sensible manner. Two popular slimming clubs are:

  • Weight Watchers
  • Slimming World

You could also choose to create your own plan.  If you prefer to do your own research you can create your own weight loss schedule.

The following can be used as a basic guide line for the calorie intake required in order to lose weight:

Female

If you have less than 7lbs to lose, try and reduce your calorie intake to 1300 per day

If you have less than 14lbs to lose, try to reduce your calorie intake to 1400 per day

If you have less than 20lbs to lose, try to reduce your calorie intake to 1500 per day

If you have more than 20lbs to lose, try to reduce your calorie intake to 1600 per day

Male

If you have less than 7lbs to lose, try and reduce your calorie intake to 1400 per day

If you have less than 14lbs to lose, try to reduce your calorie intake to 1500 per day

If you have more than 20lbs to lose, try to reduce your calorie intake to 1600 per day
